Susann Marie Feuss, 83 of Cedar Rapids, died at West Ridge Care Center on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m., Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church by Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. A Vigil service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., and Monday at the church after 9 a.m.
Susann is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Maker of Marion, Carolyn Feuss of Cedar Rapids, and Marilyn (Virgil) Benesh of Peoria, AZ; five grandchildren Becky Maker, Gary Maker, Jeff Benesh, Andrea Benesh, Jordan Benesh; four great grandchildren Ernie, Rachel, Leah and Skye Maker; sister Barbara Knowles of Lisbon; brother Michael Heisdorffer of Harper and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, son Henry, Jr.; parents William and Marie Heisdorffer; brother Billy Heisdorffer and step mother Viola Heisdorffer.
Susan was born December 16, 1930 in Sigourney the daughter of William and Marie Hammes Heisdorffer. She married Henry Feuss on September 3, 1955 in Cedar Rapids. Susann retired in 1987 after 28 years as an inspector at Collins Radio. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Agnes Circle, and VFW Auxiliary Post #788 where she held the offices of president, treasurer and secretary, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #55 of Ely.
Susann enjoyed crocheting, crafting, gardening, camping, volunteering for the St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival, playing cards and especially spending quality time with family.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Stephen Norbert HAMMES
The service for Stephen Norbert HAMMES, 46, of Dallas, Texas, who died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 1996, at his home, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The body was cremated. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the family visitation to follow. Memorials may be made to Masses and a memorial has been established in his name. A memorial service was conducted Wednesday in Dallas.
HAMMES was born Aug. 13, 1949, in Fairfield, the son of Norbert J. and Marie A. GREINER HAMMES. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1968, from Southeastern Community College in Burlington with an associate arts degree in 1970 and from Northeast State University at Kirksville in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree. He was a computer systems analyst for IBM for 12 years in Kansas City, Mo., and five years in Dallas.
Surviving are his parents of Fairfield; four sisters, Rose BOLLEI of Tiffin, Carol VORHIES of Monticello, Barbara HUGHELL and Mary WEBB, both of Batavia; 16 nieces and nephews.

TOOK HIS OWN LIFE
Joseph Sieren was found dead in the granary at the home of his son-in-law Monday morning. His son-in-law is William Greiner and resides in Clear Creek township. Mr. Sieren was seventy-one years old and some thing life a year ago his wife died. Mr. Sieren has been in poor health and he has been living around with his children. Undoubtedly it was ill health that caused the act.

Vernon Francis Vogel
ARTICLE ABOUT VERNON
Vernon was born on the family farm southwest of Chariton, Iowa. He attended all eight years at Union school, a one room country school about a quarter of a mile from the farmstead. Vern attended Chariton High School where he played varsity football and participated in basketball and baseball.Vern has been an avid sports fan all of his life.
In April of 1934, Vern's father became ill and passed away at home on the farm. In January of 1935, Vern moved with his mother and brothers to Sigourney, Iowa where he graduated from high school that same year.
Vern did farm work for various farmers around Keota, Iowa until the summer of 1938. During that summer Vern and his cousin and best friend, Omer Hammes, went to North Dakota for the wheat harvest. From there they rode the rails to Washington where they picked apples and peaches. On their way home they stopped in Idaho and picked potatoes. They also rode the rails back home, hitching
rides on freight trains.
In 1939, about 2 months after his brother, Jim, started selling Fuller products, Vern got into the Fuller
business. Vern was working in the Lakeview, Iowa area where he met Edrie Ochs.
In September of 1941 Vern went to Baltimore, Maryland and went to work in aircraft for the Glen L. Martin Company.
In the fall of 1944 Vern joined the Merchant Marines and served for one year, until the War was over.
Vern returned to Iowa and went back into Fuller sales in Ames for about six months. In 1946 he moved to Des Moines, Iowa as a field manager. Vern was transferred to Wichita, Kansas in 1951, taking over as manager for Kansas. Vern retired in 1971 and took it easy for about a year.
In 1972 he got into the securities business and worked for about three years.
In January of 1975 Vern got his real estate license and started selling real estate. He was licensed with Don Dinning's Marina Lakes branch office where his son-in-law, Jerry Jackson, was a branch manager.
In June of 1982, Vern, Jerry, and another agent Bill Haney formed a new company called Gold Key Realtors. In 1989 Vern sold his interest, but stayed on as an agent for Gold Key. In addition to selling homes, Vern has developed and built new homes. On December 27, 1999, Vern put his license on inactive and fully retired at nearly 82 years old. | Vogel, Vernon Francis (I58)

Veronica Vogel OBITUARY
VERONICA VOGEL. age 74, of Keota, died Sunday, February 15, at the Keokuk county hospital in Sigourney. She had been in poor health for several months. She was born south of Keota December 7, 1895, a daughter of John and Catherine Flander Vogel. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church at Keota and the Altar and Rosary society.
Surviviors are two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Elsie) Becker of Keota and Mrs. Richard (Genevieve) Johnston of West Point: and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and one brother, William, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church in Keota with the Rev. William Snell officiating. Burial was in Ss. Peter and Paul cemetery at Clear Creek. Casket bearers were Robert Becker, Rodger Becker, Gary Becker, Earnest Johnston. Raymond Johnston and Carl Johnston. Powell Funeral Home at Keota was in charge of arrangements.

SIGOURNEY- Virginia A. Hammes was born Monday, September 21, 1925 in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Viola (Rice) Eldridge and graduated from Sigourney High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Leo M. Hammes on October 25, 1944 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. The couple lived and farmed east of Sigourney where Virginia dedicated her life to raising her children. She was a
member of the Grace Family Church near Ollie and enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, sing-alongs and church. Virginia died on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at her home in rural Sigourney, after a long illness, at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 5 days. Survivors include twelve children: Janis McNurlen and husband Dick of Keota - Joyce Sieren and husband Larry of Keota - John Hammes and wife Janie of Keota - Leo “Jake” Hammes and wife Sue of Sigourney - Jeff Hammes & wife Jeni of Sigourney - Kevin Hammes and wife Debby of Sigourney - Vernon Hammes and wife Mel of Richland - Bryan Hammes and wife Debra of Keota - Dennis Hammes and wife Connie of Ollie - Lisa Uphold and husband Jamie of Sigourney - Shelly Hammen and husband Pat of Wellman and Kelly Mousel of Keota and friend Alan Sellers; 38
grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; three sisters: Donna Adam of Sigourney - Barb Appleget and husband Rex of Swisher and Linda Van Fleet and husband Dyle of Stockport and one brother: Larry Eldridge and wife Carole of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Leo in 1999, two children: James Michael and Jill Christine, four brothers: Charles, Bob, Jim and Jerry and one sister: Dorothy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004, at Grace Family Church near Ollie with Pastor Dar Eckley officiating. Burial will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery near Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for Grace Family Church or Hospice of Keokuk County. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
