  OBITUARY LaVern L. Peiffer Dies Oct. 18. LaVern L. Peiffer, 45, of Durant died Sunday, October 18, 1998 at his home in Durant, Iowa.He was born pm June 15, 1953 to Norbert and Mae (McDonough) Peiffer in Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Barbara Hammes on February 16, 1974 in Sigourney, Iowa. He was employed as a Plant Engineer at United Parcel Service, Davenport, Iowa for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, and one sister Angela Peiffer. He is survived by his wife Barbara Peiffer of Durant, Iowa; his mother, of Sigourney, Iowa; two daughters Melissa and Jennifer Peiffer, both of Durant, Iowa; one son, Jeremy Peiffer of Muscatine, Iowa; three sisters. Eileen Gruenhagen of Blue Grass, Iowa, Marlene Potter of Marion, Iowa and Burnita Peiffer of West Amana, Iowa; and one grandson. Funeral services were held Monday, October 19 at Bentley Funeral Home in Bentley, Iowa with Father Brian Shipley officiating. Casket bearers were Jason Shifflet, Bill Patterson Jr., Larry Morlan, Travis Vittetoe, Joshua Pfannebecker and Shad Potter. Serving as Honorary Casket Bearers were Harley Daufeldt, John Keith, Howard Eckert, Mike Gookin, Pat Peiffer and Tom Peiffer.
