OBITUARY
C.P. HAMMES, AGE 93, DIES
Constant P. Hammes, age 93, of Sigourney died Monday at the Keokuk county hospital.
He was born July 26, 1884 in Clear Creek township the son of Peter and Anna Buch Hammes. He farmed and was a carpenter in Keokuk county moving to Sigourney in 1953. He was a member of St. Mary\'s Catholic Church in Sigourney, was a charter member of Windhorst Council and a charter member of Fr. Grothe Assembly of the fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus at Harper.
He married Lean Vogel February 22, 1911 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and she survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Francis (Marcella) Schneider of Oxford, Mrs. Kenneth (Kathryn) Krier of Ollie, and Mrs. Paul (Mary) Webb of Sigourney; four sons, Norbert of Fairfield, Paul of Keota, Charles of Marion, and Robert of Delta; 42 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; a brother Zeno Hammes of Sigourney and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Margaret) Reed of Keota.
Mr. Hammes was preceded in death by a son, Orville, and infant son, Eldred and an infant daughter, Clarissa. Also three sisters, Lena Greiner, Anna Vogel and Celia Hammes and four brothers, Matthew, Peter, Nicholas and Mike.
The parish rosary was recited Tuesday evening at Holm Funeral Home followed by the Knights of Columbus rosary.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at St. Mary\'s Catholic church. Officiating are the Rev. F.E. Lolich, the Rev. Robert Striegel, the Rev. Wilbur Sondag and the Rev. Raymond Vogel. Burial is at Ss. Peter and Paul cemetery, rural Harper.
Music was by Mrs. Charles Phelps, organist and Mrs. Bernard Hammes, soloist. Lector was Benard Vogel.
Casket bearers were James Hammes, Dennis Schneider, Richard Krier, Craig Hammes, Terry Hammes, Edward Webb, David Hammes and James Krier.

CP HAMMES REUNION HELD AT ST. MARY'S HALL
The families of the late Constant and Lena Hammes held a reunion at St. Mary's Hall on Sun., June 26 with a potluck dinner. There were 75 present.

COUPLE OBSERVES 65TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Constant Hammes of Sigourney celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Feb. 22 with a home Mass at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Francis E. Lollich officiating. All of their children were present for the day.
Constant Hammes and Lena Vogel were married Feb. 22, 1911 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Clear Creek.
