    • VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
      The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
      Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

      Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vogel of Keota will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, January 19 and will hold open house the same day.
      Open house will be held at St. Mary's hall in Keota from 2 to 4 p.m. for their friends, neighbors and relatives. The couple request no gifts.

    • OBITUARY
      FRANK W. VOGEL of Keota, age 83, died Tuesday, October 19, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lingering illness. He was born May 20, 1888 in Clear Creek community to Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel. He attended Clear Creek school. He married Susan H. Hammen January 23, 1913 at Clear Creek and he lived in Keota area all his life having moved to Keota 25 years ago. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Keota and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus at Harper.
      Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) Schumann of Moberly, Missouri, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl of Keota and Joe of Sigourney, six sisters, Katheryn Vogel of Iowa City, Mrs. Constant Hammes, Mrs. Will Aller and Mrs. Pete Dumont of Sigourney, Mrs. H. P. Dehner of Clinton and Mrs. Henry Hammen of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
      Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church in Keota with the Rev. William V. Snell officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.
