    • VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
      The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
      Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

      OBITUARY
      MARGARET HAMMEN

      Manson - Margaret Hammen, 100, formerly of Manson, died Tuesday morning at the Marian Home, Fort Dodge. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Manson. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Manson. The Rev. Robert McClintock will officiate. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Thursday at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home, Manson. There will be a 4 p.m. rosary by the Catholic Women's Club Thursday and an 8:15 p.m. parish vigil service.
      Survivors include daughter, Helen Hill, Tomah, Wis.; son, Donald, Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Dehner, Wenatchee, Wash.
      Margaret Vogel was born Sept. 2, 1890 in Keokuk County. She attended rural schools and St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Clear Creek, Iowa. She married Henry Hammen in 1914 at Clear Creek. The couple lived on farms in the Harper and Manson areas until retiring in 1951 and moving to Manson. Her husband died in 1972 and she moved to Marian Village in 1979 after the June 28 tornado.

      MARGARET HAMMEN DIES DECEMBER 4

      Margaret Hammen, 100, died Tues., Dec. 4, 1990, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. She was born Sept. 2, 1890 at Clear Creek, the daughter of Frank and Catherine Lutz Vogel. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic school. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Rosary and Altar Society of Manson and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Council 26 of Fort Dodge. She married Henry Hammen Feb. 16, 1914, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clear Creek and they lived on a farm in the Harper Community from 1914 to 1942 when they moved to a farm northeast of Manson. They retired to Manson in 1951. The home was destroyed by a tornado June 28, 1979 whereupon she moved into an apartment at the Marion Village, Fort Dodge where she resided until her death.
      She is survived by a daughter, Helen Hill of Tomah, Wi., a son, Donald Hammen, Waterloo; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Dehner, Wenatchee, Wa.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, Dec. 19, 1972; a son, James, July 13, 1968, a granddaughter, Jean Hammen; her parents; eight brothers, Andrew, Jacob, Michael, Frank, Joseph, Lawrence, Leo and Carl; six sisters, Elizabeth Dumont, Lena Hammes, Mathilda Aller, Katherine, Amelia and Regina Vogel.
      Funeral services were held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Manson on Fri,. Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert McClintock officiating. Interment was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Manson. Casketbearers were Charles Hauck, Robert DeVoe, Jeff Hill, Steve Hammen, Greg Hill and Nick Hammen. The Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
