    • VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
      The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
      Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

      WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
      WILLIAM ALLARS ARE HONORED ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY
      A family dinner was held at the Town House in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Allar of Sigourney who observed their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 2, 1964.
      Those present besides the honored couple were the Rev. J. M. Mackin, Mrs. Erma Allar, Carolyn, Tom, and Steve, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Allar, Cathy and Deborah, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Linnenkamp, Sue, John, Jerry and Linda, Mrs. Anna Allar, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vogel of Sigourney; Mrs. Walter Strieck, Jim and Dick of Davenport; and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Greiner of Keota. Mrs. Albert Greiner and Joe Vogel were attendants for Mr. and Mrs. Allar 50 years ago.
      An open house was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allar from 2 to 5 p.m. for the relatives and friends.
      Refreshments were served from a tea table laid with a white cloth and silver service. The tiered cake, baked by Mrs. August Steinhart of Delta, was cut and served by Mrs. Erma Allar and Mrs. Herbert Allar, daughter-in-laws of the couple. Punch and coffee was served by Mrs. Walter Strieck and Mrs. Keith Linnenkamp, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Allar. Carolyn Allar, a granddaughter, was in charge of the guest book.
      William Allar and the former Matilda Vogel were married May 4, 1915, at the Ss. Peter and Paul church at Clear Creek. The Rev. Henry Sendbuhler officiated. They are the parents of five children and have thirteen grandchildren.

      OBITUARY
      MRS. ALLAR DIES JUNE 14
      Mrs. William A. (Matilda Catherine) Allar, age 87, died June 14 at the Keokuk County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
      The daughter of Frank and Catherine Lutz Vogel, she was born Feb. 3, 1892, in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County.
      She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney and the Altar and Rosary Society.
      She was married to William A. Allar May 4, 1915, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Clear Creek, and they lived on farms in the Hayesville and Harper communities until moving into Sigourney in 1944. She had been a resident of Manor House Nursing Home since 1975.
      She is survived by two sons, Ernest of Davenport and Herbert of Sigourney; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Strieck of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Vogel of Sigourney and Carl Vogel of Keota; and three sisters, Mrs. Lena Hammes of Sigourney, Mrs. Margaret Hammen of Manson and Mrs. Mary Dehner of Clinton.
      Preceding her in death were her husband Oct. 2, 1975; a son, Charles William in 1969; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Linnenkamp in 1973; a grandson, Ronald Allar; her parents; six brothers, Andrew, Mike, Jake, Frank, Leo and Lawrence Vogel; and three sisters, Regina and Catherine Vogel and Mrs. Elizabeth Dumont.
      Funeral services were held June 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Msgr. E. C. Greer officiating. Interment was in St. Elisabeth's Parish Cemetery at Harper. Casket bearers with Stephen Allar, Thomas Allar, David Clarahan, David Keller, Jerry Linnenkamp and Richard Strieck.
      Reynolds Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
