- VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

- VOGELS OBSERVE 50 YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vogel of Sigourney will observe their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 12, at St. Mary's school gym. All relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts. They were married October 14, 1919, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic church in Harper and are the parents of Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Fisher and Mrs. Don (Marie) Oliver of Keswick, Joseph Vogel of Garner, Stanley Vogel of Keswick and Gordon Vogel of Louisville, Kentucky. An infant son died February 1, 1925. There are 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

- MR. AND MRS. VOGEL OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vogel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 12. Approximately 200 relatives, friends and neighbors attended the open house held at St. Mary's school in Sigourney.
Their children, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Don Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Vogel and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Vogel were hosts and hostesses and the grandchildren helped with serving, the guest book and gifts.
Kitchen hostesses were Mrs. Paul Adam, Mrs. Elmer Sieren, Mrs. Wayne Morrison, Mrs. Damian Gent, Mrs. Paul Webb and Mrs. Alvin Vogel. Mary Kay Webb and Jane Vogel also helped serve.
Decorating of the room was done by Mrs. Stanley Vogel, Mrs. Elvin Fisher and Mrs. Don Oliver.
The four tiered cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. August Steinhart, who also made the mints and cut the cake.
Guests were present from Alexandria, Virginia; Louisville, Kentucky; Iowa City, Washington, Keota, Harper, Cedar Rapids, Keswick, Garner, Waterloo, Clinton, Wellman, Marion, Webster, South English, North English, Fremont, Davenport, Creston, Oxford, Oskaloosa and Chicago, Illinois.
All of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Vogel were present.

Joseph served in World War I and farmed North of Harper, Keokuk County,Iowa until retiring and moving to Sigourney, Iowa.
- SERVICES FOR JOSEPH VOGEL
Joseph Albert Vogel, age 87, of Sigourney, died Mar. 23 at the Keokuk county hospital in Sigourney. He was born Feb. 22, 1896 near Clear Creek to Frank and Kathryn Lutz Vogel. He attended Clear Creek school. He was a World War I veteran and served in France. He was a member of Leo R. Farmer American Legion Post 19 and WWI Barracks 667. He married Maud M. Clarahan Oct. 14, 1919 at St. Elizabeth church in Harper. They farmed north of Harper until moving to Sigourney in 1960. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic church. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Fisher and Marie Oliver of Keswick; three sons, Joseph of Garner, Stanley of Sigourney and Gordon of Louisville, Ky.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; one brother, Carl of Keota, three sisters, Lena Hammes, Sigourney; Mary Dahner, Wenatchee, Wqsh.; and Margaret Hammen, Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Feb. 9, 1981; an infant son, Joseph Francis; three grandchildren; two sons-in-law; six brothers, Andrew, Jake, Mike, Leo, Lawrence, and Frank; five sisters, Elizabeth Dumont, Kathrine Vogel, Regina Vogel, Metilda Aller and Amelia Vogel. Also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Mar. 26 at the St. Mary Catholic church with the Monsignor Edward Greer, Sigourney, officiating. Military honors were by WWI Barracks 667 and Leo Farmer American Legion Post 19. Taps were by Gregory Peiffer. Casket bearers were Larry Fisher, Leon Vogel, Jon Strang, Lynn Fisher, Larry Northup and Dennis Strang. Burial was in the St. Elizabeth cemetery, Harper. Arrangements were made by Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
