    • VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
      The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
      Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

    • Mary Grace Vogel
      Mary received her early education at St. Peter and Paul School in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, Iowa. In 1928 she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa. Mary and Hugo lived in several cities including Clinton, Iowa before moving to Wenatchee, Washington in 1976.

      Mary worked as a registered nurse retiring in 1969 at the age of 66. Mary was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Wenatchee, Washington, and more recently Our Lady of Snows.

      OBITUARY
      Wenatchee - MARY GRACE DEHNER, a 21-year resident of Wenatchee, passed away Aug. 20, 1997, at Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. She was born Dec. 8, 1902, at Harper, Iowa, to Frank and Catherine (Lutz) Vogel. She received her early education at St. Peter and Paul School in Clear Creek, Iowa. In 1928, Mary graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa.
      She married Hugo Paul Dehner of Iowa City on Dec. 26, 1933. The couple lived in several cities in Iowa: Jefferson, Newton and Clinton. After living in Clinton for 35 years the couple moved to Wenatchee in 1976 to be closer to family. They enjoyed extensive traveling.
      After raising three children, Mrs. Dehner went back to work in 1955 as a registered nurse. Her experiences ranged from a private duty nurse to a full-time position at the Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Iowa. She retired in 1969 at the age of 66.
      Mary was a active and energetic woman. He three favorite pastimes were sewing, baking and gardening. She remained active in her interests and with friends and family until 1994, when she experienced a stroke which affected her right side. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Wenatchee, and more recently Our Lady of the Snows.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo Dehner, in 1991; an infant son, James; eight brothers; and seven sisters. Survivors include her son, Robert W. Dehner and his wife Jean of San Carlos, Calif.; her daughter, Marilyn Varnum and her husband Dick of Arizona and Iowa; and her youngest daughter, Barbara Bockenstedt and husband Fred of Wenatchee. In addition, Mary is survivied by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
      Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at Betts Funeral Service. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in East Wenatchee. Burial will be in Iowa City, Iowa in the Dehner family plot at the Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of the Snows Parish, 145 Wheeler Road, Leavenworth, Wash. 98826.
