NOTE
After the marriage of Peter and Elizabeth, they made their home on a farm in Lancaster Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, described as the W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Section 26 and the NE 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 27, Township 75 N., Range 11 W consisting of 120 acres, which J. P. Dumont purchased from his father on March 20, 1909. They built the house that is now on the farm. In the 1940's they moved into Sigourney, Iowa and lived at 815 South Main Street. After Peter's death, the farm was sold to their son, Elmer, whose family presently owns it.

- PETE DUMONTS SURPRISED ON WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Dumont of Sigourney were happily surprised Sunday afternoon when their children and their families came to their home and reminded them they would have a wedding anniversary soon. Mr. and Mrs. Dumont were married 45 years Tuesday, but it was more convenient for their children to have a get-together on Sunday.
All their children and grandchildren were present. The group presented their parents with a beautiful platform rocker.
Refreshments were served. Mrs. Damian Gent of South English baked a lovely angel food cake, which was decoraed for the occasion.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young and family of Oskaloosa; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Korf and family of Marion; Mr. and Mrs. Damian Gent and family of South English; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dumont and family and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dumont and family of Ollie; Mrs. and Mrs. Wilferd Dumont and family and Mr. and Mrs. Josph Wehr and family of Sigourney. Mr. and Mrs. Dumont have 23 grandchildren.

OBITUARY
DEATH CLAIMS J. P. DUMONT
Cancer Claims Life on Thursday
Services for J. P. (Peter) Dumont of Sigourney were held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. J. M. Macklin was celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass, the Rev. M. J. Diamond, pastor of St. Elizabeth Church in Harper, deacon, and the Rev. Paul Kleinfelder, pastor of the Ss. Peter and Pauls church in Clear Creek, sub-deacon. Burial was in St. Elizabeth's cemetery at Harper.
Mr. Dumont had been in ill health for the past four years, suffering from cancer and was critical ill the last four months. He passed away at his home at 815 South Main Street in Sigourney at 10:55 a.m. Thursday.
He was born October 5, 1880 in Harper, the eldest son of Nicholas and Margaret Schmall Dumont. When still a youth the family moved to a farm in East Lancaster township, where he grew to manhood and attended the public schools.
On October 27, 1908, he was married to Elizabeth Vogel of the Clear Creek community. They established their home on a farm in the East Lancaster community. To this union eight children were born. One daughter, Helen Elizabeth, passed away at the age of six years.
He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at Harper until several years after their retirement to their home in Sigourney, when they transferred their membership to the St. Mary's church in Sigourney. He was also a member of Windthorst Council, Knights of Columbus, at Harper.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Elizabeth, two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ed Vogel of Sigourney.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Leonard and Elmer of Ollie; Wilford of Sigourney; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Wehr of Sigourney; Mrs. Harold Young of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Damian Gent of South English and Mrs. J. J. Korf of Marion; 23 grandchildren; four brothers, Matts and George Dumont of Sigourney; Theodore of Washington, Iowa; Gus Dumont of Sheridan, Wyoming; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Streigel of Harper and Mrs. Otto Schmid of Sigourney.
Solist at the service was Mr. Dumont's niece, Mrs. Robert Snakenberg of Webster, who sang "Panis Angelicus" at the offertory and "Ye Souls of the Faith" at the close of the service.
