- VOGEL FAMILY REUNION HELD
The descendants of Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel met for a family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 6 at St. Elizabeth Church Hall in Harper with a catered dinner for 65 family members. The Elizabeth Vogel Dumont family hosted the reunion.
Since the last reunion two years ago, five family members have died. Frank B. and Catherine Lutz Vogel were the parents of 16 children. The only surviving member is Mary Vogel Dehner of Wenatchee, Wash., who was present. Two current birthdays were celebrated, that of Mary Dehner, who will be 90 years old and Bernice Vogel, who will be 91.

Catherine was 4 years of age when she came to Keokuk County, with her parentsand settled on a farm 6 miles south of Harper, Iowa. When a young girl sheattended a Catholic school at Baden, a small community 7 miles east of Sigourney, Iowa

OBITUARY
Last rites were held Saturday for Mrs. F. B. Vogel at the Ss. Peters and Pauls Catholic Church at Clear Creek, who died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Allar, after an illness of three months durantion.
Catherine Lutz Vogel, daughter of Catherine and Frank Lutz was born at Peoria, Illinois, August 28, 1860, and came to Iowa with her parents in 1864, settling on the farm now occupied by Carl Vogel.
On January 23, 1883, she was united in marriage to Frank B. Vogel. The couple made their home on a farm near Talleyrand, later moving to the Lutz farm where they reared their children.
They were active members of Ss. Peters and Pauls church of Clear Creek, until they moved to Sigourney, to spend their declining years. In Sigourney they were faithful members of St. Mary’s Catholic church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died February 14, 1932, a son Jake, who passed away in 1934, and a daughter Amelia, who died in infancy.
She leaves to mourn her departure 14 children; Andrew of Cincinnatti, Ohio; Mrs. Peter Dumont of Ollie; Michael of Chicago, Illinois; Frank of Keota; Mrs. Constant Hammes of Sigourney; Mrs. Henry Hammen of Manson; Mrs. William Allar of Sigourney; Kathryn of Iowa City; Joe of Harper; Lawrence of Kansas City, Missouri; Leo of Keota; Regina with the Army Nurse corps at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Mrs.
Hugo Dehner of Clinton; and Carl of Harper. Also 53 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. George Vogel of Jesup and Mrs. Nick Flander of Keota.
Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by the Rev Leo Lutz of Kansas City, and assisting as deacon was the Rev. Wilbert Sondag of Clinton, both nephews, and the Rev. Paul Kleinfelder and the Rev. James Mackin were in Sanctuary.
The serman was in charge of her pastor, the Rev. James Mackin of the St. Mary’s church in Sigourney.
Her children who served as pall bearers and honorary pall bearers were Leonard Dumont, Norbert Hammes, Ernest Allar, Joseph Vogel, Alvin Vogel and Charles Vogel.
Honorary pall bearerts were Edward Schuman, Harry Hill, Stanley Vogel, Herbert Allar, Wilfred
Dumont and Paul Hammes.
She will always be remembered by her children and those who knew her as a devout Christian mother, who firmly believed in Catholic principles.
Burial was in the Ss. Peters and Pauls cemetery.
