Notes |
- OBITUARY - Jacob Theodore Sondag
Jacob Sondag was born July 8, 1873 in Clear Creek township, being the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sondag. May 15, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Rena Peiffer, daughter of Joseph Peiffer and wife. After their marriage they moved to a farm about four miles west of Harper where they lived about two years. Not being physically strong enough for farm work Mr. Sondag bought a half interest in his brother's drug store at Harper to which place he moved, and continued this partnership until the time of his death.
By his true hearted, gentle and friendly conduct as a business man, he acquired the love and esteem of all with whom he came in contact. Mr. Sondag and family were members of the Harper Catholic Church and were true and devoted to their religion. Three weeks ago last Monday he was taken ill with typhoid fever. He fought a brave battle for life. Everything that was possible to do was done but his Almighty Father called him to his eternal rest and at 3:30 p.m. on December 4, 1908, he breathed his last. He leaves a wife and six small children to mourn his loss. It is indeed a severe blow to his family and near relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Harper Catholic Church on Monday, December 7, at 10 o'clock a.m. in charge of Rev. H. Grothe and were largely attended. The sermon touched the depth of every heart present. One and all extend heartfelt sympathy to the widow and children.
