CP HAMMES REUNION HELD AT ST. MARY'S HALL
The families of the late Constant and Lena Hammes held a reunion at St. Mary's Hall on Sun., June 26 with a potluck dinner. There were 75 present.

COUPLE OBSERVES 65TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Constant Hammes of Sigourney celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Feb. 22 with a home Mass at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Francis E. Lollich officiating. All of their children were present for the day.
Constant Hammes and Lena Vogel were married Feb. 22, 1911 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Clear Creek.

- SCHNEIDERS TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Francis and Marcella Schneider of rural Oxford will celebrate in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, with an open house on Sun., Aug. 28 from 2:30 to 5:30 at the Days Inn Ironmen, Coralville.Francis Schneider and Marcella Hammes were married Oct. 4, 1938 in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Clear Creek. Hosting the event are their children, Marilyn and Harry Marble, Malibu, Calif., Dorothy and James Goody, rural Iowa City, Robert Schneider, rural Oxford, Dennis Schneider, Merced, Calif., Francis and Nancy Schneider, San Carlos, Calif., John Schneider, rural Oxford, Anne Schneider, San Pedro, Calif. They have nine
grandchildren. All friends and family are invited toattend. The couple requests no gifts.

- MARCELLA HAMMES IS BRIDE TUESDAY AT CHURCH WEDDING
Before an altar banked with roses and ferns, Miss Marcella Hammes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Hammes of Clear Creek, Keokuk County, Iowa and Mr. Francis Schneider, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider of Cosgrove, Iowa, were married at 8:30 o’clock Tuesday morning, October 4, 1938 in St. Peter’s and Paul’s Church at Clear Creek. The Rev Father Kleinfelder read the nuptial mass.
Miss Anna Kathryn Hammes, sister of the bride, and Mr. Paul Schneider, brother of the bride-groom, attended the couple. Acolytes were Charles Hammes, brother of the bride, Lester Smith, Howard Peiffer and Kenneth Peiffer. Sister M. Liparda provided organ music, and the church choir sang “Ave Maria.”
Attired in a floor length gown of white satin and lace, the bride had a tulle veil fashioned into a cap and held in place with pearls. She carried a bouquet of white Killarney roses. Her attendant’s gown was of powder blue mousseline crepe, worn with white accessories, and a halo of blue and white flowers. Miss Hammes carried pink Johanna Hill roses.
Following the ceremony, reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where covers were laid for 50 relatives and friends. The table, decorated in the bride’s colors of blue and white, was centered with a wedding cake bearing miniature figures of a bride and the bridegroom.
Mrs. Schneider is a graduate of St. Peter’s and Paul’s school at Clear Creek, while Mr. Schneider was graduated from the Cosgrove high school. After an extended tour of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, the couple will be at home at Cosgrove, where Mr. Schneider is engaged in farming.
Out-of-town guests who attended the wedding were Mr. William Schneider of Gary, Indiana, brother of the bridegroom; Mrs. T. B. Vogel of Sigourney, Iowa, grandmother of the bride; The Rev. Frank Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Schneider and family, Miss Helen Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider, Miss Anna Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eckrich, all of Cosgrove, Iowa; Mr. Peter Hammes of Sigourney, Iowa, and Miss Catherine Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tompkins and Mrs. Katherine Watkins and family, all of Iowa City, Iowa.

MARCELLA SCHNEIDER
Marcella H. Schneider, 87, of rural Cosgrove, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coralville following an extended illness.
She was born September 30, 1914 in Harper, Iowa, the daughter of Constant and Lena (Vogel) Hammes. She married Francis “Effie” Schneider on October 4, 1938, in Harper. She retired from the dietary department at the University Hospitals where she worked for many years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the National Catholic Order of Foresters for which she was a past president and was served in other offices, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Marilyn Marble of Los Angeles, California, Dorothy Goody of Iowa City, Iowa and Anne Morgan of Harbor Pines, California; four sons, Robert of Oxford, Iowa, Dennis of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Frank of San Carlos, California and John of Tiffin, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; two great grand-children; two sisters, Kathryn Krier of Ollie, Iowa and Mary Webb of Sigourney, Iowa; and three brothers, Norbert Hammes of Fairfield, Iowa, Robert Hammes of Delta,
Iowa and Charles Hammes of Marion, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Orville, Paul and Eldred; and a sister,
Clarissa.
Funeral arrangements were with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, Iowa.

Marcella was 87 years old and died as a result of Alzeimer's Disease.
