ANTHONY LEONARD CONRAD, SEPTEMBER 2, 1996
Harper -- Anthony L. Conrad, 80, of rural Harper died Monday, September 2, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper with Father Timothy Regan officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Clear Creek. Friends may call at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney after 2 p.m. today. A prayer vigil will be held there at 7:30 p.m. Memorial may be given.
Anthony Conrad was born on January 22, 1916, at Houghton to Albert and Cecilia Allar Conrad. He married Agatha Hammes on February 3, 1937, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek. He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Church at Clear Creek. He worked as a carpenter and farmed in the Sigourney and Harper areas. He was a avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Cecilia and husband, Ron Neis, of Cedar Rapids; Sister Martha Conrad of Somerset, Ky. (nun); Mary and husband, Doug DeWeerdt, of Boyden; and Carol and husband, Larry Robison, of Birmingham; a son, Mike and wife, Janice, of Sigourney; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Alva Fairchild; and a brother, Elmer.
