LAST RITES HELD FOR WILLIAM J. VOGEL AT CLEAR CREEK
SATURDAY
The funeral service for William John Vogel. 58, of Clear Creek township, who died on January 30 at the Veterans’ hospital in Des Moines, was held Saturday morning, February 2 at Saints Peter and Paul's church. Clear Creek. The Rev. Paul Kleinfelder was in charge and burial was in the family lot in the parish cemetery. Mr. Vogel had been in failing health for the past year but was seriously ill only the past two months. He entered the Washington county hospital last November 15 and was transferred to the Veterans’ hospital on December 3, where everything possible was done for him.
He was born September 17. 1893 on a farm south of Keota ans was the only son of John A. and Katherine Flander Vogel. He spent most of his life in Clear Creek township, with the exception of five years that he lived in the Fairfield community. Mr. Vogel was a veteran of World War | and was in service from 1918 to 1919. He was a faithful member of Saints Peter and Paul's church and was known as a good neighbor and friend always ready with a helping hand in time of need.
Preceding him in death was his father. on September 24, 1941. He is survivied by his aged mother, and three sisters, Miss Vernoica Vogel and Mrs. Elsie Becker of Keota and Mrs. Genevieve Johnston of West Point.
