Hammes-Potthoff Rites Followed By Reception for 400 at Kilbourn
On the arm of her father, Miss Eileen Kathryn Potthoff approached the white flower-banked altar of Holy Name Church last Saturday at 10 o’clock where Rev. John J. Schneider performed the ceremony which made her the wife of Donald W. Hammes.
Preceding the ceremony, Bernadette Gales Myers played a 15 minute organ recital and also accompanied Jane Nash Jensen who sang “Just for Today,” “Ave Maria” and “Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy.” As “On this day O Beautiful Mother” was sung, the bride placed a bridal bouquet at the Blessed Virgin altar.
For her gown the bride chose white faille, fashioned princess style with side peplums forming the waistline under which white net fell over a long full train. The sweetheart neckline and three-quarter length sleeves were edged with net. White tulle caught with a fresh flower at either side formed the fingertip veil. An arm bouquet of Easter lilies and lace flowers was carried by the bride, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Potthoff, 1727 Park avenue.

      Sister Attends Bride
Mrs. Ernest Priaulx, sister of the bridegroom, attended the bride as matron of honor. Her gown was of pink marquisette. Tiny covered buttons extended to the waist and bands of inserted lace accented the full skirt. Miss Naomi Stewart, Rockford, the bridesmaid, was frocked in aqua marquisette, fashioned with inserted lace similar to the matron of honor’s gown. Their tiaras in harmonizing shades were of flowers from which fell net veils. Both carried white tulips and candy-tuft.
The bridegroom was attended by George Foley Jr. as best man, and Vaughn Inman, a fraternity brother. William Potthoff and Elroy Hammes, brothers of the bride and bridegroom, respectively, and Robert Carroll ushered. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hammes, 2005 Taylor avenue, and is employed by S. C. Johnson and Son Inc.
      Breakfast at Club
A 12:30 breakfast was served at Kilbourn Country Club, with covers laid for 25. A buffet supper at the bride’s home was followed by a reception at Kilbourn attended by 400 guests. Mr. and Mrs. left on a short honeymoon and will be at home at the Killarney apartments, 1045 Grand avenue.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Klotz, Fort Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dunse, Elaine and Jean, West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Ed O’Brien and Jane, Mr. and Mrs. James Cloud, Vaughn Inman, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Wolf, Milwaukee; Michael Hammes, Zeno Hammes, Omar Hammes, Iowa; Miss Naomi
