- OBITUARY
Bonita (Bonnie) Kathryn Greiner, 54, of Keota, passed away Sun., July 27, 2003, at home while surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1948, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Alva and Isabelle Hammes Baker. She graduated from Keota High School in 1966 and St. Joseph's Nursing School in 1970. She was united in marriage to Marlin Greiner on Aug. 22, 1970, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They made their home in the Keota area, where they raised their family. She worked as a registered nurse for over 15 years at Maplewood Manor in Keota. She was dedicated to providing compassionate care and enjoyed showing her musical talents throughout her years of service.
She is survived by her husband; six daughter, Annette Greiner of Iowa City, Christine Weber of Williamsburg, Carrie Garman of Keota, Jacque Eisenbarth of Richland, Heather Kingsbury of Wapello and Gina Greiner of Iowa City; three sons, Mark of Iowa City and Matt and Derek, both of Keota; seven grandchildren; her parents, Alva and Isabelle Baker of Keota; a sister, Brenda Vittetoe of Washington; three brothers: Robert Baker of Leeburg, Va., and Richard and Thomas Baker, both of Keota.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Kolton Kingsbury.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thurs., July 31 at the Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Church where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
A general memorial has been established.
