- Alvin Francis Vogel
Alvin was born in Canada and moved with his parents to Iowa at a young age, settling on a farm southwest of Chariton in Lucas County. Alvin graduated from Chariton High School in 1930. Alvin became a mechanic and owned and operated a farm machinery dealership in Sigourney, Iowa until 1969. He then sold investments and mutual funds for I.D.S. Investments until 1981, when he retired.

Alvin Vogel Dies October 31
Alvin F. Vogel of Davenport, formerly of Sigourney, died October 31, 1997 at Genisis Medical Center East Davenport.
He was born December 7, 1911 in Wetaskinwin, Alberta, Canada to Jacob and Anna Hammes Vogel. He married Gertrude C. Paetzold on August 8, 1939 in Harper. He was a farm equipment operator and owner of Vogel Sales and Service in Sigourney. He then was a sales representative for IDS Financial Services Inc., retiring in 1981. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus
Loras Council #532 and the Legion of Mary.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Sr. Mary Ann Vogel C.H.M. of Davenport, Norma TeBrake of Wheaton, Illinois, Kathryn Whitty of Redmond, Washington, Jane Griffin of Rochester Hills, Minnesota; two sons, Donald and Richard of Naperville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Vernon Vogel of Wichita, Kansas, James Vogel of Des Moines, Bernard Vogel of Bettendorf and Louis Vogel of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Vogel.
The service was held Monday November 3rd at 11:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport, Iowa. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.
Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home in Davenport was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Humility of Mary Shelter in Davenport
