- James Peter Vogel
NOTE
James Louis Peter Vogel was born on the family farm southwest of Chariton, Iowa and attended eight years at Union School, a one room country school located about a quarter of a mile from the farmstead. In April of 1934, Jim's father became ill and passed away at home on the farm.
In January of 1935 Jim moved with his mother and brothers to Sigourney, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1937.
Jim began selling for the Fuller Brush Company in 1939.
When World War II began Jim joined the Navy, where he spent the rest of the war. After leaving the Navy, Jim attended and graduated from the University of Iowa, while selling Fuller Brush products on a part time basis. Jim went into management for Fuller after finishing college. He was in charge of theDavenport, Iowa district.
Jim, eventually, left Fuller and purchased aninsurance agency in Des Moines, Iowa. Jim also got into real estate investments, building a sixteen unit apartment complex. Jim sold his insurance agency in early 1992 and retired.

Three field managers and a dealer, all in one family, is the proud boast of the Vogel brothers, and an unusual one as Fuller family stories go. Ralph, one of the top men in Western District, is the leading field manager in Sacramento, California, Jim and Vern are field managers and doing right well in Dubuque, Iowa and Des Mines, Iowa, respectively. Lewis, the youngest brother, sold $6184 in seven periods this year with high periods of $1250 and $1001, in Sacramento.
Ralph, you will recall, authored the recent Brush-Off article on the use of the Catalog to increase sales.
