Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd W. Hahn of Sigourney, Iowa will be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. They will be celebrating the occasion with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lloyd W. Hahn and Mary Louise Hammes were married September 3, 1953 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek, south of Harper, Iowa.
Their children are Sheryl (Ron) Sieren of Fairfield, Iowa, Susan (Jim) Sieren of Sigourney, Iowa, David (Angie) Hahn of Canton, Illinois, Diane (Mark) Cavin of Sigourney, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Pat) Clubb of Keswick, Iowa, Myron (Angela) Hahn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen Hahn of Canton, Illinois and Kristine (Tim) Kibbee of Grinnell, Iowa.

30th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards
A Keokuk County local was honored for his dedicated service and volunteer spirit at the 2013 Governor’s Volunteer Award special recognition ceremony.
Lloyd Hahn of Keokuk County received a 2013 Governor’s Volunteer Award from Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds on Friday, June 28, 2013 in Ottumwa, Iowa. This volunteer was honored with a Volunteer Award nominated by Seneca Area Agency on Aging for their volunteer service.
The Governor’s Volunteer Awards (GVA) program was created in 1983. What began as a small program only available to state government agencies has expanded and now provides all Iowa nonprofit, charitable and government organizations with an easy way to honor their volunteers with a prestigious award.

- OBITUARY
SIGOURNEY-Lloyd W. Hahn, age 87, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.
Lloyd was born July 17, 1927, in rural Keokuk County, to Anton and Frances (Pitsch) Hahn. He attended Chastine country school and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1944. Lloyd was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. For his service he was awarded the Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. On September 3, 1953, he married Mary Hammes at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
The couple lived and farmed in the Hayesville community and recently moved to Deerview Assisted Living. In addition to farming, Lloyd worked in maintenance at the University of Iowa for 10 years and First Resources for 15 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, where he taught Sunday School for 17 years, Farm Bureau, Seneca Area Agency on Aging, the Keoco Auction Board, served as Chairman for Milestones, was a Master Gardener and received the Governor's Volunteer Award. Lloyd enjoyed teaching children and teenagers, playing cribbage, John Wayne movies and was an avid reader, but, above all, he enjoyed his family.
Lloyd's family includes his wife: Mary of Sigourney; nine children: Sheryl (Ron) Sieren of Fairfield, Susan (Jim) Sieren of Sigourney, David (Angie) Hahn of Canton, Illinois, Diane (Mark) Cavin of Sigourney, Mary Ellen (Pat) Clubb of Keswick, Daniel Lee Hahn who was stillborn, Myron (Angie) Hahn of Cedar Rapids, Karen Hahn of Canton, Illinois and Kristine (Tim) Kibbee of Grinnell; 33 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and brother-in-law: Bernard (Phyllis) Hammes of Sigourney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and Errol; grandsons: Zachary Clubb and Braxton Hahn and great grandson: Emmett Fineran.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, where there will be a wake service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Keokuk County Hospice. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Lloyd and his family. Tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
