LEOLA HEISDORFFER OF KEOTA DIES
Leola Agnes Heisdorffer, 81, of Keota died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa, following a sudden illness.
She was born March 6, 1915 in the Clear Creek community, rural Harper, Iowa, the daughter of Michael L. and Cecelia Striegel Hammes. Leola attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School. On April 21, 1936 she was united in marriage to Alvie V. Heisdorffer at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in rural Harper, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1993.
Leola had lived in the Keota community most of her life where she was a homemaker and worked at Maplewood Manor for several years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She is survived by: three sons, Eugene and his wife, Linda Heisdorffer of Sigourney, Phillip and his wife, Lisa Heisdorffer of Keota, Frederick and his wife, Dawn of Keota; two daughters: Eileen and her husband, James Watson of Mount Pleasant and Karen and her husband, Allen Baugh of Central City; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six sisters; Dolores Baker of Keota, Agatha Conrad of Harper,
Elizabeth Conrad of Sigourney, Eveleen Ulin of Sigourney, Beatrice Clubb of Sigourney, Donna Paarman-Grimes of Sigourney; five brothers: Edwin Hammes of Fairfield, Lawrence (Bud) Hammes of Sigourney, John Marvin Hammes of Fairfield, Kenneth Hammes of Sigourney and Cletus Hammes of Sigourney.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1993.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24, 1996 at Holy Trinity - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Reverend Timothy Regan officiating. Burial was in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, rural Harper. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
