  	OBITUARY Mathias Jacob Hammes was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, July 9, 1889 and departed out of this life, February 20th at the home of his parents, after an illness of three days of indigestion and pneumonia at the age of 31 years, 7 months, and 11 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and mother, five brothers, Nicholas E., Constant P., Peter J., Mike L., Zeno J., and four sisters, Mrs. P.L. Greiner of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Jake Vogel of Chariton, Iowa, Mrs. Mike A. Hammes of Racine, Wisconsin, and Margaret at home, one sister preceded him in death. The funeral was held Wednesday morning, February 23rd at 10:00 A.M. from the S.S. Peter and Pauls' Church at Clear Creek. Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated. The funeral was largely attended. Burial was made at Clear Creek Cemetery, Rev. Father Sendbeuhler conducted the burial, the pall bearers were his five brothers and one brother-in-law Jake Vogel.
