      EDNA HAMMES DIES MAY 9

      Edna Hammes, 95, rural Sigourney, Iowa died Saturday, May 9, 1992, at her home.
      She was born January 14, 1897, in Keokuk County, Iowa to Casper and Mary Greiner Horras. She married Zeno Hammes on September 3, 1918, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clear Creek. He died December 20, 1985. She attended school at Clear Creek and was a lifetime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church and Altar Society. They lived and farmed on the same farm all their married life.
      She is survived by two sons, Donald and Bernard, both of Sigourney, Iowa; three daughters, Marjorie Striegel of Harper, Iowa, Isabelle Baker of Keota, Iowa and Mary Louise Hahn of Sigourney, Iowa; 34 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Weber and Elizabeth Striegel, both of Sigourney, Iowa; two brothers, Albert and Howard Horras, both of Keota, Iowa.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Earl, Walter, and John Horras.Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., with Rev Robert Harnes, Clear Creek, Rev. Robert Striegel, University of Iowa Hospital Chaplain, and Rev. Ernest Braida, St. Mary’s, Sigourney, officiated. Linda Sieren was organist and Robert Baker was soloist. Honorary casketbearers were Alan Hammes, Kyle Hammes, Richard Baker, Gerald Hammes, Myron Hahn
      and Andrew Striegel. Burial was in Ss Peter and Paul Cemetery.
      A memorial has been established.

      Holm Funeral Home of Sigourney, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
