Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd W. Hahn of Sigourney, Iowa will be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. They will be celebrating the occasion with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lloyd W. Hahn and Mary Louise Hammes were married September 3, 1953 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek, south of Harper, Iowa.
Their children are Sheryl (Ron) Sieren of Fairfield, Iowa, Susan (Jim) Sieren of Sigourney, Iowa, David (Angie) Hahn of Canton, Illinois, Diane (Mark) Cavin of Sigourney, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Pat) Clubb of Keswick, Iowa, Myron (Angela) Hahn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen Hahn of Canton, Illinois and Kristine (Tim) Kibbee of Grinnell, Iowa.

SIGOURNEY-Mary L. Hahn, age 92, of Sigourney, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Unity Point Health - Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Mary was born June 25, 1930, near Harper, to Zeno and Edna (Horras) Hammes. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, graduated from Sigourney High School in 1947 and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. Mary then worked at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. On September 3, 1953, she married Lloyd Hahn at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The couple lived and farmed in the Hayesville community. When Mary finished raising their kids, she worked as a nurse at Manor House Care Center at age 56, retiring her nursing license at age 78. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Farm Bureau Kitchen Band and was a 4-H leader. Mary was known for her peanut butter bars and spice bars and enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and holding her grandbabies and great grandbabies.
Mary’s family includes nine children: Sheryl (Ron) Sieren of Fairfield, Susan (Jim) Sieren of Sigourney, David (Angie) Hahn of Canton, Illinois, Diane (Mark) Cavin of Sigourney, Mary Ellen (Pat) Clubb of Webster, Daniel Lee Hahn who was stillborn, Myron (Angie) Hahn of Cedar Rapids, Karen Hahn of Canton, Illinois and Kristine (Tim) Kibbee of Grinnell; 33 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and sister-in-law and best friend: Phyllis Hammes of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Lloyd; son: Daniel; two brothers: Donald and Bernard; two sisters: Marjorie Striegel and Isabelle Baker; grandsons: Zachary Clubb and Braxton Hahn and great grandson: Emmett Fineran.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Manor House Care Center or the Allen Memorial Hospital Surgical Floor. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Mary and her family. Tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff on the Allen Hospital Surgical Floor and Carli with Unity Point Hospice for the wonderful care that Mary received.
