Agnes (Hammes) Bombei (1888-1971

"Mrs. Agnes Bombei, 83, of Sigourney, died Friday, Feb. 3, at Manor House Nursing Home where she had been since January 1967. She had been ill nine months.
"Born January 7, 1888, in the Clear Creek community, Keokuk County, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Bohr Hammes. She married John F. Bombei at Clear Creek on February 28, 1911. They lived on a farm in the Harper community until moving to Sigourney in 1948.
"Surviving are two sons, Leonard H. of West Chester, and Irvin J. of Harper; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Striegel and Mrs. Alma Striegel of Harper, Mrs. Dorothy Conrad of Zearing, and Mrs. Vera Greene of Keswick; 42 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Greiner of Washington, Iowa.
"Her husband died in 1959. Three grandsons, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
"She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney. Services were Monday with the Rev. Francis Lollick officiating. Burial was in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Clear Creek."
