Notes - OBITUARY
Agatha Marie Conrad, 86, died at her home on Mon., Dec. 2, 2002.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916 at Clear Creek, the daughter of Mike and Cecilia (Striegel) Hammes. She attended school at Clear Creek. She married Anthony Leonard Conrad on Feb. 3, 1937 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They lived and farmed in the Sigourney and Harper area. She worked at the Iowa Ammunition Plant in Burlington for 18 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Listen-a-Bit Club. She attended the Senior Citizen regularly and loved to play cards.
She is survived by four daughters, Cecilia Neis of Cedar Rapids, Sister Martha Conrad of Somerset, Ky., Mary DeWeerdt of Boyden and Carol Robison of Fairfield; a son, Mike of Sigourney; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Dolores Baker of Keota, Eveleen Ulin, Eliza-beth Conrad, Beatrice Clubb and Donna Paarman, all of Sigourney; five brothers, Edwin and Marvin Hammes of Fairfield, Lawrence, Ken-neth and Cletus Hammes all of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 2, 1996; her parents; a son-in-law, Thomas Sanders; and a sister, Leola Heisdorffer.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney Fri., Dec. 6 with the Rev. Philip Ryan officiating.
Burial was at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Clear Creek. Casket bearers were John Knowler, Todd Neis, Corey Sanders, Jim Hoover, Dave Tornow, Ryan Young and Nathan Haley.
Arrangements were by Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
