      OBITUARY
      Mary M. Leinen, 95
      PORTSMOUTH - Mary Margaret Leinen, daughter of Nick and Catherine (Leuschen) Thielen was born at Exira July 25, 1893. She was baptized, received her First Communion, and was confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira and attended country school there.
      Feb. 9, 1915, she married Peter F. Leinen at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth. 11 children were born to this union. After their marriage, they farmed on the same farm where Peter was born until 1951, when they moved into Portsmouth, March 30, 1964, she became a resident of Little Flower Haven in Earling. After her husband's death she continued to reside at Little Flower Haven, where she died Nov. 8, 1988 at age 95 years, three months and 14 days. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth and St. Mary's Rosary Society.
      In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a son, Matt, who was killed while serving his country in Korea in 1951; two daughters, Helena Elbert and Barbara Goodman; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Frank, Peter and Nicholas. She issurvived by four daughters, Agnes (Mrs Leo) Hodapp, Westphalia; Ann (Mrs Phil) Kenney, Littleton, CO; Evelyn (Mrs Fred) Long, Coon Rapids; and Rosemary (Mrs Robert) Laing, Algona; three sons, Louis and Harold both of Portsmouth and Lawrence, Yutan, NE; 23 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
      A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Nov. 11, 1988 at St. Mary's in Portsmouth with Rev. Paul Bianchi as the celebrant. Msgr. Michael Schwarte concelebrated, assisted by Deacon Pat Davitt. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery with Mark Leinen, Tim Kenney, Jim Kenney, Richard Hodapp, Dave Hodapp, and Junior (Fred) Long as casket bearers. Pauley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
